It has been such an amazing four weeks for the whole team at Aura Landscapes. With a further two awards to add to our belt and a whole new experience.
First Show Garden Design and Build
Let’s go back to the end of May and our very first show garden we have built as Aura Landcapes at Gardener’s World Spring Fair, Beaulieu.
What a fantastic show, opportunity, and garden. We were very privileged to be given the opportunity via The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL), to build a show garden at the local Gardener’s World Spring Fair in Beaulieu. We were only told about the gap and possible opportunity in February but managed to bring the concept, design and build together with the help of our sponsors: Marshalls, Rolawn, Form Plants, D’Sculpted, London Stone, Jewson and Forge at Manor Farm and our very talented team.
The show garden was titled:“In with the old, Out with the new” and the concept “Over the Garden Gate” as the brief from the APL.
This garden design took inspiration from an ancient Chinese wood preserving technique called Shou Sugi Ban. The charring of the wood brings out the natural texture of the wood revealing its real beauty.
The design emphasised using all things that were past their prime and bringing them back to the forefront in a celebration. Using old, reclaimed metals and timber that all still had beautiful textures and colours to bring the space to life whilst reducing the carbon footprint and creating habitats for wildlife returning to nature. The sculptures beautifully placed within the garden were not only in the form of woodland animals but were bug hotels too.
This garden design was created to blend natural earthy and manmade industrial materials together to create a tranquil relaxing space. Whilst still having an emphasis on wildlife and biodiversity (a personal interest of mine).
We wanted to reflect a feel of wild woodland around the borders of the garden, with a central oasis water feature that represents the source of colour and vigour spreading and slowly taking control.
We certainly hoped this was the case. Our efforts paid off with being awarded a Silver Merit! Plus, we got a chance to meet and chat with our existing clients and meet many new, potential ones J To top it off we had some brilliant feedback from the visitors and a fantastic experience that we, as a team, hope to build upon next year.
Marshalls National Awards 2022
Moving on to the next big event in the Aura diary, The Marshalls National Awards. Held on Friday 13th May at Carden Park Hotel & Spa, we made the long journey up to Chester, with much anticipation and excitement!
It was a fantastic event where we had the chance to meet up with old friends, make new ones, build connections, have fun and enjoy the wonderful facilities. It was a fantastic night, especially with the guest speaker, footballing legend Paul Merson.
To make the night even better Aura Landscapes scooped the Marshalls National Award for Best Use of Fairstone. As said by Marshalls on the night; “The workmanship shown on this project from Mike and the team at Aura is, as always, of the highest quality.”
The winning project is a patio paved using Marshalls Fairstone slabs with a central water feature highlighted using Marshalls Farnley setts in blue multi, the blended products work beautifully together as you can see.
